MENACE Full Release Date: 1.0 Status and 2027 Roadmap

What Is the MENACE Full Release Date?

The MENACE full release date is still to be announced. That matters if you're waiting to play through the finished story, because major campaign content remains on the development schedule. The MENACE full release date is separate from February 5, 2026, when the game entered Early Access.

You can already command your strike force through the Wayback system, manage limited resources, and tackle operations across hostile worlds. However, the campaign is still growing, with additional story content, planets, factions, and character interactions planned.

Here is the release status at a glance:

Release milestoneDate or statusWhat it means for players
Early Access launchFebruary 5, 2026MENACE became available to play during development
Full release / version 1.0Date still to be announcedDevelopment continues toward the completed game
Remaining 2026 roadmapUpdates expected within 2026More characters, an Extended Campaign option, and a story expansion are planned
2027 developmentAdditional updates plannedSystem Map changes, missing planets, and the final story content are on the schedule

The distinction matters because an announcement titled “MENACE is Released!” accompanied the Early Access launch. That February release opened the game to players while development continued.

Older information can also muddy the timeline. An earlier development plan targeted fall 2025 for Early Access. The actual launch happened on February 5, 2026, so use that date when checking how long MENACE has been available.

What the Remaining 2026 Roadmap Adds

The late-2026 roadmap lays out an update order rather than individual release dates. Its three main steps are the balancing overhaul, Squad Leader Update #2, and Main Story Expansion #1.

The balancing overhaul has already arrived as version v0.7.16, followed by Hotfix #13, v0.7.17. The other roadmap items remain planned in the October 16 snapshot.

UpdateStatusMain additions
Balancing overhaulReleased as v0.7.16Extensive equipment and perk changes, new accessories, and revised Ironman behavior
Squad Leader Update #2PlannedOne squad leader, one pilot, and an Extended Campaign option
Main Story Expansion #1PlannedStory progression, more Construct units, Level 2 Blueprints, and additional items

Squad Leader Update #2

The next character update is set to add one squad leader and one pilot with different personalities and playstyles. Their arrival expands the roster available for future campaigns.

The same update is planned to introduce Extended Campaign, an option that slows progression to roughly half its current pace. If you enjoy taking your time with squad development and equipment choices, watch for this option before starting another run.

That slower progression is a campaign setting, not a timetable for version 1.0. Keep it separate from the MENACE full release date when comparing upcoming announcements.

Main Story Expansion #1

The story expansion is the larger milestone for players waiting on campaign completion. It is planned to advance the central narrative while adding content across multiple parts of the game.

Constructs are getting additional units, while your forces will gain access to Level 2 Blueprints and more items. The expansion is expected to take MENACE beyond 60% complete.

That percentage describes the milestone after the expansion arrives. It does not describe the current build, and it cannot be converted into a countdown to launch. Development work includes systems, environments, writing, testing, and balancing, so a completion percentage alone cannot tell you how many months remain.

What the 2027 Plans Mean for Version 1.0

Development plans extend into 2027, including the final part of the story. That makes the coming year's work particularly relevant to anyone following the MENACE full release date.

The early-2027 System Map update is intended to add mechanics and more ways to interact with the strategic layer. Beyond that, the schedule includes environmental work, additional planets and factions, more squad leaders, and character interactions.

Planned areaWork scheduled for 2027What it adds to the game
System MapNew mechanics and interactionsMore activity and interaction on the strategic map
Planet environmentsUpdated environments and assetsFurther development of planetary locations
Missing planets and factionsAdditional worlds and associated factionsMore of the planned campaign setting
Squad leadersMore charactersAn expanded roster
Main storyThe final story installmentThe remaining central narrative
Character interactionsRelationships and background developmentMore exploration of the cast's histories and connections

A 2027 roadmap is not a dated version 1.0 launch announcement. It tells you what the team intends to build during that year.

The campaign's structure explains why the remaining story work matters. MENACE has an overarching threat that you must eventually confront. Its central narrative gives the campaign a destination, while operations provide connected tactical missions along the way.

Character development is another substantial part of that work. Squad leaders and pilots are written characters with distinct backgrounds, and the planned interactions explore how their relationships change.

If you're deciding whether to wait, consider which part interests you most. For tactical combat and experimenting with equipment, there is already an Early Access game to play. For the completed central story and the planned character interactions, the roadmap still contains material worth waiting for.

Follow the actual content milestones when tracking the MENACE full release date. A finished story installment and added planets tell you more about campaign progress than the number of hotfixes released.

What You Can Play Before the Full Release

MENACE puts you in charge of a Republic Marine Corps strike force operating far from the Core Worlds. You respond to distress calls, prepare squads, manage resources, and fight through operations in the isolated Wayback system.

It is a single-player game, and offline play is supported. Early Access availability includes PC through Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store, along with PC Game Pass through Game Preview.

The current development cycle includes both content additions and changes to established mechanics. The recent balancing overhaul touches squad leaders, weapons, accessories, Operational Capability Improvements, and mission behavior.

Current updateChanges relevant to your next sessionSave compatibility
v0.7.16 balancing updateReworked perks, equipment adjustments, and stricter Ironman behaviorExisting saves remain compatible; promotion points were refunded
v0.7.17 / Hotfix #13Performance changes and Zig-Zag restored to LimExisting saves remain compatible; Lim's promotions were reset and refunded
Planned Main Story Expansion #1New story content, Construct units, and Level 2 BlueprintsExisting saves can continue; some content requires a fresh campaign

In v0.7.17, Screen Space Global Illumination is disabled to address performance problems and potential crashes on some GPUs. Lim also regains Zig-Zag, replacing Solid Grouping.

The preceding overhaul gives returning players several reasons to inspect their squads before deployment. Sprint lets a unit spend 40 AP to move up to five tiles, followed by the winded effect. The new Heatsink vehicle accessory raises maximum heat capacity by 50%.

Check your promotions before launching a mission after updating from an older build. Version v0.7.16 refunded promotion points because perks changed, and v0.7.17 separately reset Lim's promotions.

Ironman players should also review the revised rules. Closing or quitting the game during a mission now aborts that mission. Plan your session around that behavior before deploying.

These changes show what playing before the MENACE full release date involves: returning to familiar squads while their equipment, perks, and tactical options continue to evolve.

Should You Start Now or Wait for the Finished Campaign?

Your decision comes down to whether you want to engage with changing systems or experience the completed campaign in one run.

Start during Early Access if you're interested in the tactical battles and willing to revisit builds as balancing changes arrive. Wait if your main reason to play is following the central narrative through its conclusion.

Plan a fresh campaign around new story content

Main Story Expansion #1 will preserve existing saves, but some of its content will unlock only in fresh campaigns. Those are two different promises: continuing a save keeps your current run available, while starting over opens access to the expansion's campaign-dependent additions.

Finish your current operation if you want to keep progressing. Then consider saving your next fresh campaign for the story expansion if experiencing its new content is your priority.

Avoid assuming that today's compatibility statement covers every future update. The specific commitments here apply to v0.7.16, v0.7.17, and the planned first story expansion.

Revisit equipment after the balancing overhaul

The overhaul is intended to encourage more build variety without making every item interchangeable. Before returning to an old loadout:

  • Reassign refunded promotion points.
  • Review perks that were replaced or reworked.
  • Recheck equipment supply costs.
  • Inspect Lim's restored Zig-Zag option.
  • Account for the revised Ironman mission behavior.

These checks follow directly from changes already in the game. They can prevent you from entering combat with an unfinished promotion setup or overlooking a newly revised ability.

Match your next run to the upcoming options

Watch for Extended Campaign if slower progression appeals to you. Wait for the story expansion if you specifically want its fresh-campaign content. Keep playing your existing save if continuing your current strike force matters more.

The MENACE full release date will eventually settle the launch question. Until then, the useful choice is which development milestone gives you the campaign you want to start next.
