S Tier: Powerful Leaders With Immediate Impact
Darby, Pike, and Lim lead this MENACE squad leader tier list with abilities that make difficult engagements easier to control. Choosing between extra action points, weapon disruption, and sustained fire matters when your strike force has limited resources. Use this MENACE squad leader tier list to prioritize promotions while keeping each leader’s equipment needs and battlefield role in view.
This ranking incorporates the perk changes in v0.7.16 and Hotfix #13, v0.7.17. The balance update refunded promotion points and reset promotions, making this an opportunity to rebuild established characters.
| Name | Tier | Why It Ranks There |
|---|---|---|
| Darby | S | Disables enemy special weapons and combines concealment with strong offensive perks. |
| Pike | S | Grants action points and supports either an economical support build or a rifle-focused squad. |
| Rewa | S | An aggressive pilot whose accuracy and discipline increase as she destroys enemies. |
| Lim | S | Combines discounted promotions, mobile attacks, and an emergency AP recovery ability. |
| Greifinger | S | Excels against healthy targets and adds valuable battlefield utility through Deploy Decoy. |
| Murdock | S | Combines objective support, recruitment utility, and powerful follow-up attacks through Overtime. |
Darby and Pike: Control the Engagement
Darby’s attacks disable enemy special weapons for one turn. That gives her a purpose beyond dealing damage: interrupting a dangerous weapon before it threatens another squad.
Use concealment and Ambush to set up her attacks, and prioritize enemies carrying troublesome special weapons. Sharpshooter now reduces enemy cover by two levels but applies only to special weapons and vehicle weapons. Match her weapon choice to that restriction when building around it.
Pike offers more flexibility. His AP support helps other leaders act, while This Is My Rifle reduces the supply cost of his squad weapon. Combine that discount with Firing Line for a rifle-focused build.
His former Standby option is now Take Aim: delay his activation for a +10% accuracy bonus and +30% critical hit chance. Use that delay when waiting creates a better shot.
Rewa, Lim, and Greifinger: Keep Pressure on the Enemy
Rewa gains accuracy and discipline as her destruction count rises. Build around her offensive vehicle perks and keep worthwhile targets available. Remember that v0.7.16 increased the M6 CMG Heavy Machinegun’s accuracy penalty and supply cost; its older appeal comes with a higher price.
Lim receives a 30% promotion discount, and Run and Gun cuts 10 AP from his next standard attack after moving. Use that combination to develop an aggressive mobile infantry squad. Reserve Blaze of Glory for a turn when removing suppression and recovering AP changes the engagement.
Hotfix #13 restored Zig-Zag to Lim by replacing Solid Grouping. His promotions were reset and refunded again, so check his allocation after updating.
Greifinger gains +20% accuracy and +30% damage against healthy targets. Let him open an engagement before another squad wounds his intended target. Place his decoy where enemies can see it, preferably in cover, to create another threat for them to engage.
Ivey (Unranked) and Murdock: Make Expensive Attacks Count
Ivey’s Barrage reduces heavy-weapon use costs by 15 AP, while Full Send reduces consecutive weapon-use costs. Feed that firing rhythm with enough ammunition and supply. Her updated perk tree also replaces Demolitions Expert with Disruptive Fire.
Murdock brings Insurance for secondary-objective support and Buyout for recruiting eligible units during a mission. Overtime adds her offensive payoff by triggering a free follow-up attack when its enemy-health condition is met.
Use her with powerful weapons that benefit from another attack, such as rockets. Her combination of combat output and mission utility earns her a place alongside the strongest specialists.

A Tier: Excellent Specialists Worth Building Around
The A tier of this MENACE squad leader tier list includes leaders with exceptional strengths and more demanding setup. Some need promotions, some need a particular squad composition, and others depend on careful positioning.

| Name | Tier | Why It Ranks There |
|---|---|---|
| Carta | A | Weak initial performance gives way to strong growth and excellent special-weapon ammunition support. |
| Tech | A | Uses special weapons without deploying and supports durable, mobile weapon builds. |
| Sachin | A | Delivers strong suppression and benefits from maintaining a large squad. |
| Exconde | A | Provides a defensive vehicle platform with protection-focused perks. |
| Corlain | A | Combines objective utility, concealment, and powerful close-range accessory builds. |
Carta and Tech: Two Ways to Field Special Weapons
Carta takes patience in this MENACE squad leader tier list. Her growth potential is nine, but her starting performance makes her a longer investment than an immediately effective leader like Darby.
Build toward Share the Load to increase special-weapon uses, then support repeated firing with Full Send. Give her an anti-vehicle special weapon when your roster needs more sustained armor damage. Her value increases as her attributes and promotions develop.
Tech’s defining advantage is using special weapons without deploying. Move him into firing positions that would force another leader to spend time setting up.
Die Hard now reduces incoming damage by 30% for the entire unit. The old 90% leader-only reduction is gone. Keep squaddies alive and build around the current protection instead of deliberately sacrificing them.
Tech also received Grenadier in place of Demolitions Expert. Grenadier now adds one use to all grenade accessories, giving his accessory loadout more endurance.
Sachin and Exconde: Support the Rest of the Force
Sachin gains accuracy and discipline for squaddies above five and suffers penalties below that threshold. Deploy him with the manpower his kit rewards.
Combine Suppressive Fire with a squad weapon that generates useful suppression. Add Firing Line for consecutive shots, then use that pressure to support another squad’s advance. Steady Gun now also grants one maximum weapon range after remaining stationary for a round.
Exconde supplies vehicle-based protection, including an extra cover level from his vehicle. Build around his defensive perks and position nearby infantry to benefit from that cover.
His Hotwire option now includes surviving the first otherwise fatal destruction event with 10% hitpoints. That is additional insurance, not permission to ignore incoming damage.
Corlain: Turn Concealment Into Mission Progress
Corlain performs sabotage for zero AP and counts as two units in capture zones. His kit also supports rescued neutral units and attacks on elimination targets.
Keep him in cover to connect Door to Door’s concealment bonuses with Ice in the Veins. Use Quick Hands and Backup Plan to develop his projectile-accessory attacks.
His strength depends on reaching useful positions without abandoning the cover that supports his defenses. Plan the route before committing him deep into enemy territory.
Corlain, Weiwu, and Murdock require trust with their respective factions to unlock. Develop available leaders while working toward those recruits.
B Tier: Useful Leaders With Clear Limitations
B-tier leaders in this MENACE squad leader tier list reward a specific purpose. Choose them for that purpose, then build the rest of the deployment around what they contribute.

| Name | Tier | Why It Ranks There |
|---|---|---|
| Jean Sai | B | Improves item farming through bonus drop chance but has weak precision and growth. |
| Fedor Yazoff | B | Finishes wavering or fleeing enemies and supports morale-focused attacks. |
Jean Sai’s Trinketing adds 30% item drop chance when she destroys an enemy. Give her achievable finishing attacks when equipment acquisition matters. Avoid spending an entire turn forcing a difficult kill purely for the loot bonus.
Her economic role is especially useful early, while poor starting precision and growth limit her broader combat appeal.
Fedor Yazoff receives +50% accuracy and +30% damage against wavering or fleeing enemies. Use Fearsome to increase morale pressure, then direct him toward enemies already losing their nerve. His healing and suppression-relief utility adds another reason to bring him.
Weiwu: An Unranked Frontline Specialist
Weiwu removes the encumbered effect from heavy armor and weapons and adds hitpoints to squaddies. His later perks reward aggressive positioning, including Spear of the Spine’s AP and critical-damage benefits when he ends movement adjacent to an enemy.
Invest in those promotions before expecting his full offensive payoff. Advance him with enough protection to survive the close engagement his kit encourages.
C Tier: Strong Tricks With Demanding Conditions
The C tier of this MENACE squad leader tier list contains capable leaders whose advantages come with meaningful risks or setup costs.

| Name | Tier | Why It Ranks There |
|---|---|---|
| Achilles | C | Gains exceptional offensive potential at low health but requires risky health management. |
| Vanloo | C | Supports flanking and armor discounts, while his damage-triggered AP mechanic demands care. |
| Bog | C | Offers vehicle repairs and burst attacks, with restrictive costs and follow-up penalties. |
Achilles gains AP as his health falls. Shield Wall limits the hitpoints lost from a single attack, but repeated attacks remain dangerous.
Use cover, controlled engagements, and a clear exit route when exploiting his low-health bonuses. On Expert, prioritize survival over squeezing another attack from Spartan Duty.
Vanloo’s Shooting Gallery rewards attacks against enemies outside cover. Flank exposed targets and use Flamboyant’s armor supply discount to support a more protective loadout.
His updated Taunt lasts two rounds and adds 20% armor damage reduction. Disdain now also grants a full Partir De Rien stack when a squaddie is lost. Keep those changes in mind when rebuilding him, without making casualties your plan.
Bog removes a vehicle’s most severe defect through Juryrigged. Use that repair utility when defects threaten the vehicle’s effectiveness.
Overload grants 50 AP but stuns him the following turn. Spend it only when the immediate attack justifies losing that next activation. His updated Take Aim and improved Hotwire provide additional options beyond that burst turn.
D Tier: Wetteroth Needs a Focused Assignment
Wetteroth occupies the bottom of this MENACE squad leader tier list because limited growth and a restrictive action economy make him harder to justify over broader performers. His recent improvements still deserve attention.
| Name | Tier | Why It Ranks There |
|---|---|---|
| Wetteroth | D | Low growth and limited general flexibility keep him behind stronger alternatives, despite targeted buffs. |
Version 0.7.16 increased Wetteroth’s Agility from 57 to 63, raising his AP from 85 to 90. Big Game Hunter also applies to large targets, including vehicles.
Assign him a large-target firing role and reduce unnecessary movement. Use Athletics to help manage repositioning costs.
Wire Slings received substantial improvements: range increased from two to four, uses increased from six to eight, and trapped units take 30% more damage. Use those traps to support follow-up attacks.
His low placement reflects the investment needed to make his narrower toolkit work. Give him a deliberate assignment rather than expecting him to cover every battlefield problem.
